Airbus UpNext Internship 2026 - 5G NTN regenerative layer 1 implementation (m/f) AIRBUS

**Job Description:**

Airbus UpNext is looking for a layer 1 engineer in internship to support the definition and implementation of 5G Non-Terrestrial-Network (NTN) capabilities based on space platforms.

Our objective is to explore many new technologies and to support the strategic ambitions of Airbus. As such, be prepared for a wild ride, digging into unconventional ways of working, and be ready for many pivots throughout, as we will explore the unknown.

Airbus UpNext demonstrator team is looking for a layer 1 hardware/software engineer intern in order to support 5G software deployment on targeted on-board processor technologies.

*This internship is within Airbus UpNext in Toulouse (Labège), will start as soon as possible and will last for a period of 5 months at least.*

* Mission *

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

* Understanding of hardware on-board processor implementation selected by Airbus UpNext

* Support to Layer 1 software deployment on targeted hardware architecture (with an Airbus UpNext Layer 1 engineer and major project partners)

* Analysis of short/mid-term flight hardware evolution (next-generation)

* If possible, support Layer 1 software deployment on next-generation architecture
