Description du poste

Amazon Web Services is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Engineer to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team. This group is committed to maintaining the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services, ensuring 100% uptime of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing/Fire Protection) systems, while delivering world-class customer service to the teams operating within the data centers. We support all AWS data centers as well as all the servers, storage equipment, networks, power systems, and cooling systems that ensure our customers have continuous access to the innovations they rely on. We work on the most complex problems, with thousands of variables impacting our operations, and we are looking for talent who want to help us tackle these challenges. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, critical systems specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles. As a DCEO Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation of all electrical, mechanical, and fire protection/life safety equipment within the data center at optimal efficiency. You will serve as the single technical point of reference for all facility operations, reporting to the site Facility Manager and interacting with Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) as well as third-party contractors. Data center equipment supporting critical servers must maintain an uptime rate greater than 99.999%. One of the most rewarding aspects of this role is leading, training, and mentoring Engineering Operations Technicians in their mission of troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment. Designing and executing site-specific and equipment-specific training exercises is also part of the expected responsibilities. This equipment includes diesel backup generators, switchboards, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), PDUs, air handling units (AHUs), centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and building management systems (BMS). Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the data center's mechanical and electrical equipment. - Act as the escalation point for all data center facility-related issues, escalating to the Facility Manager as needed. - Create and deploy new standard practices for EOT Technicians, Chief Engineers, and contractor teams. - Provide training and mentoring to Engineering Operations Technicians. - Ensure strict compliance with all safety procedures by contractors and Amazon personnel. - Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience. - Even if you do not meet all the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage you to apply. Our employee-led and company-supported affinity groups foster inclusion and allow everyone to take pride in what makes them unique. Our inclusion events build stronger, more collaborative teams. Our continuous innovation is fueled by the bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and passionate voices that our teams bring to everything we do. That is why you will find endless knowledge sharing, mentorship, and other professional development resources here to help you become a more well-rounded professional. Work-Life Balance Fluency in English (spoken, written, and reading). - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Industrial Technology, or Electrotechnical Engineering. - Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in a data center or other critical environment. - Proven experience in the management and maintenance of critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchboards, HVAC, chilled water/cooling systems). Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or in an industrial or data center-related field. - Minimum 10 years of experience in a data center or other critical facility. - Intermediate level in French (spoken and written). - Strong leadership, organizational, and technical team management skills. - Experience in multi-site or multi-team technical project management. - Knowledge of CMMS, BMS (Building Management Systems), and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS).
