**Job Description:**

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Materials & processes engineer (M/F) - Specialist of metallization technologies (f/m) to join our Design Office based in Marignane, France.

The helicopters's airframes are using more and more composite materials to decrease weight and to improve performance. The extensive use of composite materials leads to the need to ensure electrical continuity at airframe level, which is essential for lightning strike protection and other electrical functions on the aircraft. Metallization technologies are used to implement this electrical continuity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus Helicopters to join the team "Systems" within the Materials, Processes and Test Department.

The team « Systems » is a transnational organization shared between Donauwörth, Paris Le Bourget and Marignane. The position will be located in Marignane.

The Laboratory for Materials and Processes (LMP) supports the design, production and customer support departments at key points in the life cycle of helicopters, from research and development of new materials to testing and qualification, repair solutions and environmental aspects. Within the LMP, the candidate will join the 'Preservation and Servicing' metier which is responsible for developing, qualifying and bringing customer support on metallization technologies. To cover this need, we are looking for a material engineer with transversal knowledge on composite materials, electrical junctions technologies and electrical testing methods.

Your challenges:

You will be responsible for the following main activities:

* Follow-up of qualification projects on metallization technologies (cost/deadlines)


* Lead the development and deployment of metallization repair processes (including metal-mesh, bondings, etc...)

* Communicate with customers (programs, obsolescence plateau, Hazardous materials project) on on-going projects / support activities

* Establish and update qualification documents (requirements sheet, standards, implementation documents, etc...)

* Harmonize solutions and documentation between German and French helicopters designs

* Manage / realize test campaigns on materials (ex: electrical measurement, thickness measurement, adhesion tests,...)

* Support Design Office in the choice and implementation of metallization solutions


* Support certification of the solutions

* Treat non-conformities in production

* Capitalize lessons learned from in operation incidents and foster the implementation of design improvements to solve root causes of defects, in relation with support and services department


* Establish global technological roadmap on metallization

* Participate in research projects, in synergy with Airbus Commercial, Airbus DS and Airbus CRT

* Contribute to improve the resistance of metallization technologies to operational environment and propose solutions to improve their durability



Your profile:

You will have the following skills and experience:

You have the following competences and experience :


* Master degree, engineering degree or PhD (or equivalent) in the field of materials (composite, coatings) and electrical engineering knowledge (including instrumentation and measurement)


* Specific knowledge on corrosion, materials aging and failure analysis would be appreciated

* Experience in R&T, laboratory testing, engineering and project management

* You are aware of environmental regulations REACH, RoHS, VOC, ...

* You are a highly engaged person with a great sense of initiative, autonomy, integrity and the ability to manage confidential topics

* You show strong team spirit, communication, interpersonal and networking skills

* You enjoy working close to the operations, in strong link with end customers (strong customer-oriented mindset)

* Your English and your French are at negotiating level, additional language skills in German is considered a plus
