Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Data Center Media Technicians to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. The Media Technician is responsible for conducting sanitization and liquidation of commercial data center equipment. This role requires effective coordination and communications across multiple operations teams. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly and accurately complete tasks related to media sanitization, network device sanitization, inventory tracking, asset life-cycle state changes, as well as physical removal of equipment. You must possess: strong technical aptitude, situational awareness, bias for action, and excellent communication skills. Exceptional candidates will be process improvement minded and possess the ability to expeditiously deploy identified process improvements to the field. This position requires the ability to successfully operate in high pressure, time-sensitive situations while firmly adhering to internal data handling policies.
All candidates should exhibit the following:
• A working understanding of server grade hardware.
• A basic understanding of networking hardware.
• Proven experience in problem solving and addressing customer service-related issues by working with other internal teams toward a shared objective.
• Safely lift and/or move up to 18 kilograms unassisted; participate in group lifts over 18 kilograms or more in tight and elevated spaces.
• Local travel within (Paris, Île-de-France) Region may be required.

Key job responsibilities
• Hard drive installation, removal, and destruction; ensuring all media handling policies are followed and updating progress through a web ticketing system. Document daily tasks to ensure business continuity.
• Unpacking/repacking fragile electronics and Relocating/moving of large enterprise equipment
• Basic Networking equipment removal/installation
• Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
• Perform data sanitization on all equipment prior to liquidation or destruction.
• Perform asset life-cycle state changes.
• Perform Process Improvement. Record data on process inefficiencies and risk then work with supporting teams to eliminate or mitigate issues.
• Interact with third party vendors & contractors
• Data Center Operations is a 24x7 team and this position requires work during non-business hours and rotating shifts to meet 24/7 on-call requirements.
• Participate as the data center point of contact for High Severity Events.
